Spambrella has implemented new technology to help protect you from specific threats that are distributed via email, including phishing and targeted attack–emails sent to your org/business community to trick people into giving up their network credentials. These messages and the websites they link to often look legitimate, even to the discerning eye, because they may use your own logos and valid email addresses and other contact information.
Spambrella URL Defense protects users and the organisations network resources by blocking access to malicious websites. Links in all email messages are evaluated using a variety of sophisticated techniques to determine the likelihood that they lead back to phishing or malware websites.
If links can’t be definitively classified as safe when the message is received, the URL is rewritten so that clicking it will cause URL Defense to evaluate the linked website a second time. If the link is safe, you will see no difference.
Protection from Phishing and Domain Spoofing
Phishing, also known as “brand spoofing” or “carding”, is a term used to describe various scams that use (primarily) fraudulent e-mail messages, sent by criminals, to trick you into divulging personal information. The criminals use this information to steal your identity, rob your bank account, or take over your computer. Counterfeit web sites, using “hijacked” company brands and logos, are created to lure you into revealing information you would not want to be public knowledge. These digital thugs are “phishing” for any data they can obtain to prey on people and further their criminal activities.
Even the most experienced internet user can be duped into entering information based on a targeted phishing email. Often phishing emails are sent to a small number of users in order to avoid detection. This is why protection at click-time is so important in today’s ’email to web’ communication world.
The anti-phishing solution for your business.
Spambrella’s anti-phishing service is now one of the most sought after service features in the cloud security marketplace. Spambrella by default runs user scan-time and click-time protection for emails which are scanned for URL reputation and IP threat. When the email is filtered, and again when the user clicks a link. This unique feature protects users from any changes in URL reputation.
User responsibility and awareness can only take your business users so far. For the rest, there’s Spambrella.
There are many tools and service subscriptions available for anti-phishing education in today’s world, all of which disturb the day to day mechanics of your workforce. Common sense will go a long way to protecting your systems although recent surveys carried out by Intel Security show that only a very small percentage of individuals are able to detect a phishing attempt. Even the seasoned professionals are susceptible to making wrongful judgements.
Not only do Spambrella save you money by unifying services, we will also beat any SaaS renewal quotation you may have received either on cost or by adding greater value that you’ll have no option but to join us!
URL Defense Functions
URL Defense has two functions, ‘scan time’ and ‘click time’. The scan time is run at time of entry to Spambrella, the click time function is when the user actually clicks on the URL in an email. The reason the two functions are in place is that the email delivery may be hours/days before the user actually clicks the link.
Sophisticated (spear-phish) attacks are carried out with clean emails entering your organisation with safe URL‘s embedded from trusted IP’s/servers to bypass email security systems. Once the email is delivered, the malicious content is then added to the server/website or download link. Our click time URL defense protects the user during this function by re-checking the destination URL/server/IP, whereas other services that claim to be leaders in Email Security do not provide this level of protection.

Our experience has been positive and we have overcome obstacles using their support team for anything email related (sometimes out of their scope). We recommend Spambrella to all of our customers. With over 4k end user email users it was top priority that our migration was stable and quick. Spambrella proved to be the perfect choice with hands on technical assistance. We worked late nights migrating our customers from another email security vendor that increased their pricing without prior warning. We are very happy with Spambrella and will continue to recommend this service.
