The Email Laundry End of Life?…
June 1st 2020: Fireeye end of life The Email Laundry email security service. This comes as a surprise to many as Fireeye acquired The Email Laundry back in 2017 and seemingly had plans to greatly expand the service. The Email Laundry serviced MSPs and small organizations whereas Fireeye had a conserted desire and history servicing Enterprise businesses. This may be why Fireeye decided to exit the SME Email Security service market.
There is another twist to the tale…
FireEye quite suddenly advised partners and customers to change DNS MX records and point them to alternative service provider Hornet Security – according to MSP partners that have contacted Spambrella. This came as a surprise to many and was not received well according to reports. Hornetsecurity is an email security provider based in Germany which further confuses the decision made by Fireeye.
FireEye spokesperson…
“FireEye is migrating The Email Laundry’s email scanning service business to Hornetsecurity, an email security provider focused on small and midsize businesses. This enables FireEye to focus on larger enterprise Email Security customers with different requirements. The agreement will have no impact on other FireEye email offerings.”
Partners will have until approximately the end of June 2020 to complete customer migrations to Hornetsecurity, the spokesperson adds.
In reality, The Email Laundry customers can of course migrate to any email security service provider they choose to which is why Spambrella is growing further in popularity.
Fireeye cut jobs in April 2020
FireEye announced that it would be laying off about 6 percent of its staff in April 2020. CEO Kevin Mandia asserts that the cybersecurity company’s shift toward the platform, SaaS subscription, managed security and Mandiant consulting services continues to accelerate.
